President's Letter

Welcome to the 2012 season which will officially begin with the Opening Day Scramble on Sunday, April 29th. That evening we will hold our Get Acquainted Dinner. I look forward to seeing you at the Scramble and the Dinner. I would like to express my thanks to Mark Banwer, our long-time Entertainment Chairman, who has retired from the Board after many years of service. Mark has worked hard to make sure we have wonderful social functions and I know the membership will agree that he has accomplished this.

In the never-ending search for a cure to slow play, last year we implemented a ball spotter program for qualifying rounds of major tournaments. That program was so successful that the Golf Commission has decided to replace rangers with ball spotters on weekends. We are required to share in the funding for additional spotters and extra attention on heavily played tournament days. I anticipate this will be more costly to us than last year.

In recent years there has been a declining trend in senior golf memberships experienced at the Village. This has directly impacted our membership level. Despite the extra cost of the ball spotters, an unknown amount of members and our desire to maintain our social events at a high level, the Board has decided to keep dues unchanged again in 2012.

The Board is determined to make 2012 the best season yet. I thank members of the Board for their substantial efforts in accomplishing our goals. I also thank past presidents for their contributions which have paved the way for where we are currently.
